This year we knew we wanted to go bigger than we had before and tackle a cause that doesn't get much attention. One of the main causes of recidivism is lack of support. With the implementation of Ameelio in the corrections systems, families are able to stay connected and offer incarcerated family members the support they need prior to being released.
Thank you so much to Laura Morales with First Bank, for providing the wonderful venue this year, it was a beautiful space with an amazing view. For a video of this specific event, please go to our about page. We also received a donation from Creatix of a self-care gift set to be auctioned off. This year we also had our first grazing table and wow was it amazing. Gather and Grub came all the way from Alameda, CA to provide this service. With all of this, we were able to raise $10,000.00 that went to support Ameelio's expansion into La Vista Women's Correctional Facility here in Colorado!
About Ameelio:
We are a tech nonprofit that works with correctional agencies and other stakeholders to achieve our shared rehabilitative mission.
With 95 percent of incarcerated people eventually returning to our communities, it is critical that the American incarceration system focuses on reentry and social integration. Decades of research show that sustained family contact dramatically improves post-release outcomes and significantly reduces recidivism, which is why we are working to increase the accessibility of reliable prison communications technology for all vital support systems.
